So I got all of the lower vineyard trellis put down (nebbiolo) and I've got all the end posts dug up top and four of fifteen finished up (cab franc). The routine has been leave work at 4, move gopher traps and yell at dogs to drop dead gophers, run the 5.5 mile out and back, then work. The upper vinnie is about 300 feet higher and a good 200 yards up the hill, carrying 2 deadman posts (about 50 pounds apiece) and then digging them in... I'm not getting enough miles but gaddamn it I'm tired. You are all invited up for wine... in 5 years.

My stupid hip is so bad, right now (after 10 sessions) I can barely ride using the aerobars. Before that, I could only ride sitting straight up. Running is painful, but slowly getting a little better. I'm up to a 45 minute ride at 100W, and 20 minutes at 12 min pace. Ooiiiiii. :-(

I've been having some real issues with my left hip for awhile. Physio, ART, chiro, nothing seemed to help. It's at the point now that I was told I'll need a hip replacement in a few years if it can't be fixed. So, I started Bikram yoga about 2 weeks ago. I've always been interested in trying yoga, but always put it off.

Aero - That triple throws them off. I rode with a couple of the guys a couple of weeks ago. They made no mention of it nor did I see any wrinkled noses, especially since I was by fat the oldest fart there and close to the front on each climb and right behind them on the down hills. If you live in the Bay Area, you need good gearing. Or if you have friends who ride old stage routes in the mountains!!

Big weekend coming up. I am going to the United Healthcare Pro Cycling Team camp in Scottsdale this weekend. We get to ride with the big boys on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Doode each time I've gone to Hawaii I've left as a pale white boy who's ridden in arm and knee warmers for the past two months and have suffered like a dog in the hawaiian summer. So I reckon it would be preferable to visit in the Northern Hemi winter so at least the temperature differnce from NZ to Hawaii is not so EXTREME for this white boy. January or Feb could be quite nice. Say on a northern facing coast. It would be the perfect opportunity to give my mother in law a boggie board and tell her "it always looks bigger than it actually is...GOOD LUCK!" :-)

Awesome Gunther. Nutin like a run followed by some hard labour. My best effort to date was a 30k run followed by six hours of breaking up an uncle's 12'x12'x6" concrete pad with a jack hammer in 85 degrees. I nearly passed out a several times and took a week to recover.
