I mean, I guess one could test the egg but it seems like that would then be extremely expensive, the integrity of the eggshell would be damaged, I'd suspect, which seems like that could become more of a bacterial nightmare... but I really don't know much about it.

ray of @ email: @: I don't know about taste difference, but in Mexico, every once in awhile we'd collect the eggs a little later than we should have. They were fertilized and when you cracked them open there would be a little blood spot and the tiny embryo developing. Gross. You couldn't really taste it once it got all scrambled with the rest of the eggs.
