I thought the real question in tonights elections was John Garamendi facing off with Republican attorney Dave Harmer for a Northern California congressional seat. If that had gone backward that would have been the h-bomb.

Even by the standards of our own political history, the leadership of the Dems can hardly be called "far left." Some members of the Progressive Caucus in the house are on the "far left" but what do labels say anyway. What are these guys saying? How are they voting? That's what is crucial. All the fear mongering from the wing nuts - most notable being Rush Limbaugh and Glen Beck - is meant to confuse rational discussion of the very serious issues we face as a country. Since the election of Obama, the majority of Americans still are not being stampeded by all the hate and lies swirling about. However, that may change. America gets the type of government we vote for. Let's have a grownup talk about issues.

Last night I watched Hannity and my jaw dropped as I listened to his hype and half truths. Then I watched Olbermann and the same thing happened to me. Laurie and I literally started laughing. We could see the outline of the same topics being discussed but they were almost unrecognizable. One thing that was consistent, the majority of guest gush whatever the host does and they work themselves into rising HRs and building anger. For best results watch them back to back.

I know a few true lefties who were movers and shakers back in the 60s. I think it's safe to say the current administration is as close as we are going to get to that! I think it's also accurate to say the group who make of the left we are describing is bitterly disappointed in Obama's stance on some issues. Most notably the war(s).

Obama, Pelosi and Reid look pretty rightish from where the real left sits...or usta sit back in the day. maybe the 60's really are over? where did the real Left go? they get all corporate and form the nuevo right (which still sits juts one side of left center cept without reall causes and passion)?

KP I kinda disagree. Virgina was a 16pt spread in 44 yrs for Obama a year ago so I'd say there's something huge in Virgina going on. NJ is a Dem state if the Rep's take it then there is also something going on. As for NY the process was locally done and with a Liberal/Rep being put in (not the GOP) so having her step down because no one would vote for her is no surprise, the surprise is having a complete out of the blue conservative (who will go to Rep party) walk all over the Dem. I do agree it's about the recent economic policies and the direction Obama,Pelosi and Reid are driving. That being said if Rep/Conserv's get all three then it's is a big deal.

I don't think the elections today are a huge win for Conservatives. I think results will be an indicator of two things: (1) in recent years, some moderates voted against Republicans, any Republican (2) some moderates voted for Obama (the man) not his policies. Today, moderates (left and right) are not as angry at Republicans. As well, moderates are beginning to understanding just how far left the leadership of the country is (Obama, Pelosi, Reid).
