For a couple of years in Penticton, there was this one section of the bike course, may have been on the out and back, where bees would swarm into KP's shirt, whether the zipper was open or closed. Sting him. He just loved it. So did the bees 'cuz their stingers would break on the steel that they encountered...

Funny you should say that, Aero... The one time I did go uptown during the giant Halloween bash, I went with my friend Sammy. Sammy was a 6'4" gay dude who loved to dress in drag. He had on a full length sequined gown and gold heels. One drunk dude pointed to him and slurs, "Damn! That's a big ol b!tch." Sammy responded, "You know it, honey!" The end.

From the first album I ever purchased I am rolling two of my all time favorites from the Beach Boys: "In My Room" and "Warmth of the Sun". They provided heavy influence on the Fab Four. As a bonus, I get "Little Surfer Girl" and "California Girls" from the same album. Should be 80 degrees this weekend. I think I'll do a long coastal Cali ride through Del Mar, Solana Beach, Cardiff, Encinitas, Oceanside, Camp P., San Clemente and Dana Point. Ahhhh ... I think I need a change of season. Laura - yeah, Nanette's company does amazing things with premies at 26 weeks. I went to a benefit (in Lancaster, CA - the armpit of Southern California) where they had 28 week premies born 25 years ago come and speak. Not only were they premies, but twins...and neither ended up with either physical or mental handicaps. Truly amazing.

yeah, apparently their home values have not dropped as much because all the owners there are selling their homes in the Bahamas, St. Croix, and other places and nothing is up for sale there. But I still dream of having the same 2 acres my sister has (she lives right next to Goebbert's farm) and her 7,000 sq ft home....

I lurk on here every once in awhile, so I saw you taking care of your mom. Have you thought about getting into NICU nursing at all? I know Nanette's company continues to think about expanding into the Chicago area - although all the University hospitals make it difficult. The cool thing is, they pay well, and will pay for your school if you simply agree to work for them (gee - and get paid well - anywhere you want to work? Tough decision :-)

Craig, good move b/c those Barrington prices are killer. I've now got a sister-in-law whose parents also live Barrington (Tower Lakes), and the prices! Which is why we are heading back north after graduation. So much cheaper.

I'd believe it, although Cook county was always pretty good on the property taxes because of all the corporate tax base. However, I was driving around in Inverness (my sis still lives in S. Barrington around the corner from Walter Payton's old house on Mundhank) and so a house for $995k with a $19k tax bill...that continues to disuade us from ever moving out of our 1400 sq. ft. shack here in OC :-)

Hey Jen! The last post was to tina. But if you are starting over, a few months of easy swim bike run is the way to go. Use frequency over duration. Always use easy to steady as muscles will strengthen faster than connective tissues. At all costs, do less than you are able to each week to avoid aggravation or injury. Consistency rules. YOUR GOAL should be to establish routine. Use 20min runs, 30-45min bikes and three swims a week. Once you establish a routine (the hard part!) fitness will become an unintended by product. This type focus will allow you to side step the start/stop/start/stop BS.

The All Blacks mang. I got a serious case of rugby fatigue. I can't even watch it anymore. As a kid the All Blacks use to play for local clubs so you could go watch them on a Saturday afternoon. Now they don't. They used to play the Aussies or the South Africans once every three to four years so when it rolled around it was special. Now they play them three times per year. Too much rugby. Too much ruggerhead culture. Over the years there have been plenty of other world champions in NZ, but rugby gets all the funding and they still can't win the Rugby World Cup. And the NZ public complains about violent crime and drinking, yet love watching rugby and cheers the fights on the field followed by some huge amount afterwards. It's part of NZ I can't stand.
