It's a weird time politically... The Reagan Revolution is over (in my mind)... The electorate has pretty much zero faith in our legislators... I think we are ripe for a new political revolution... Who's going to lead that revolution?

I am an independant. I am more than a disenfranchised deemocrat or a disenfranchised republican. I can't support either party any longer. I consider myself lucky to be in the process of freeing myself of their rhetoric. I don't feel like I am part of a small minority.

What appears to be lost on the left is that they don't represent a majority of the American people. While they hold a majority in the house and executive branch it is not entirely representative of public wishes. The President is a brilliant man. He has a beautiful family (in all ways). I like him and and wish him well. But he is left of center left. The country is right of center to center. That dog won't hunt for long.

We keep seeing this huge swing right to left -- and likely left to right in 2010 or 2012. But it's not truely representative of either outcome. Independents decide the elections. It is the independents who are coming. Not left and not right.

The doctor/dentist I saw for that was down in LaCrosse (I was living in Winona at the time). After my mouth/jaw was stitched up (and swollen), I proceeded to drive to minneapolis to see my boyfriend for the weekend. When I hit about Red Wing, the Halloween Blizzard was in full-force and it was night time. I was driving 5mph holding ice up to my jaw on my left side, driving with my right and praying to god I didn't knowingly or unknowingly drive off the road or spin into a ditch in my sturdy Mercury Lynx. good times.

Then, a month or so later, this little blister thing was on the side of my jaw (inside my mouth). Turns out dentist dude didn't get all the infection out and it reinfected. The only way to fix this was to slice open the side of my jaw and get at it from the side....(there's more...)

Dan - I had that EXACT same scenario except I was in college at the time and thus couldn't afford a dentist. I let my half broken off molar go until months later when the pain got extremely extremely bad. By that time, it had become so infected that the novicane wouldn't/didn't work and I could feel every time the dentist went down into the root(s)..... (there's more....)

Use a straw for the soy latte until the novocaine wears off, seriously and lean to the unnumbed side so you don't dribble anymore. And wahtever you do, don't even think about chewing on the bad side until the work is done. And don't do ice cream unless you want to scream YEOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!

tina, I truly feel for you. My dentist, whom I trusted, saw me for tooth pain and told me there was no cavity, no problem except that I was grinding my teeth and I needed my jaw rebuilt. This would involve removing my wisdom teeth, filing down several teeth, building up a couple of others. I went as far as having her do the model of my jaw before the pain got so bad I sought a second opinion. It took him about 2 seconds to find the cracked molar and I was on my way to a root canal and no more pain.

Szell gets the Hoffman character in a chair the second time and he immediately grabs at the sore tooth. Szell tells him that he's not going to hurt that one because the nerve is dying and he needs a fresh new nerve to get the response he wants. Then he proceeds to drill into his front tooth.

d2p, that movie is worth renting for that scene alone. Sir Lawrence Olivere plays Christian Szell, a Nazi hiding out in South America who comes to New York to collect diamonds out of a safety deposit box. He's a dentist who knows exactly how to stimulate the nerve to cause excruciating pain. So he keeps questioning Dustin Hoffman, "Is it Safe?" When he doesn't get the answer he wants, he pokes him with one of those dental thingies that makes him scream in anguish.

flo - don't quote me, but i think the name was changed primarily because it really isn't/wasn't a swine flu and the fact that it was being called that basically automatically made people freak about eating pig which has/had absolutely nothing to do with this. For a pig/hog farmer to have an inaccuracy like this spread basically worldwide could put them (and the entire pork industry) in complete financial ruin. they had an absolute right to speak up.

My school just made getting seasonal flu shot and the H1N1 a requirement for going to clinical nursing classes. School sent a letter to all of us last week that we now have to show proof that we got the shot. If you decide that you don't want the shot, you are subject to being barred from hospital clinicals, which would mean, forget getting your RN. The hospital clinical sites will not allow students in the door who have not had both the seasonal and H1N1. Somehow, somewhere, there will be lawsuits a filed...
