Al, if that doesn't work, you can also try going up to the desk, interrupt the nurse or med assistant, who is no doubt on the phone with two other calls on hold, and loudly announce: "I am a personal friend of Doctor_ and am in a hurry." If that doesn't get a response, then try, "My people donated the new clinic wing, you know." Yer welcome. ;-)

Al, just go to the lab in your doctor's coat, smile at all the people who have been camped out waiting for hours then walk straight back to the seat where they draw the blood, hand the tech your paperwork and roll up your sleeve. Then, leave out the back door if they have one or in a hurry through the front still holding the gauze pressed against your antecubital fossa and try to avoid direct eye contact.

Well, I can tell you that all of the locals are up in arms over THIS YEAR'S dates because they conflict with the Fall Century (Saturday) and Tioga Pass Run (Sunday), which are local standards for the weekend. Usually EC is the following weekend from those two events. Anyway, His explanation to me was that he had to move things because the MillPond Music Festival moved back a weekend (to the 20th/21st) this year. Anyway, hopefully 2010 the dates will resume to the 3rd weekend in Sep as usual. He probably can't get anything confirmed out of the Music Festival for next year.... buncha hippies!

I prefer to passively rely on Darwin's theory to thin the herd. I would however evily require every girl to be on norplant until 20 years of age. And every helmetless motorcyclyst, bicyclist and extreme sports athlete to carry a personal $500,000 insurance policy for TBI.

Its spelled I R O N I C.... "Irony (from the Ancient Greek εἰρωνεία eirōneía, meaning hypocrisy, deception, or feigned ignorance) is a literary or rhetorical device, in which there is an incongruity or discordance between what one says or does and what one means or what is generally understood. Irony is a mode of expression that calls attention to the character's knowledge and that of the audience." :-)

Seriously, I do plan on getting back. Remember there was an article by Mark Allen about 7 years ago? I think it was in Inside Tri, maybe. He wrote how awful he felt when he was "retired", sluggish, lots of aches and pains. He remarked that the aches and pains went away when he resumed training. That article made an impression on me back then and I still think about it. If someone at that level feels those mortal aches and pains, those of us who are just Joe Age Grouper, need to really keep the fitness going. So, I'll be back. Maybe not by March, but down the road.
