Hopefully I'm on that path KP! I do feel better about myself and how I'm living, but not all the time yet. It's a slow process and I'm learning to not force a time structure on it. I am enjoying the run better but the weight is a constant reminder of the 4 million bad choices I made in the last few years. Eventually it will catch up and equalize

Maximization -- could be viewed as the output that returns the greatest profit (if health and fitness were primary goals). By minimizing crap (food, wasted time, less than good habits) you maximize health and fitness. Be careful, five years of that and you may do what you once thought was unthinkable in endurance!

Minimization. Before it was do everything and then see if there's time left over for working out. That was filled with guilt, fright, and self hating. Now I'm trying to totally minimize all the crap in my life and just enjoy the working out for its own sake. I'm tired of feeling guilt and loserish for bailing on races cause my visa is bigger than my motivation. I don't want to death march anymore either. So, I jus wanna explore a new way and live simply first, then lay on the health, then top that with exercise. Once that's done, the theory should be that I can then sign up for another race

Please send this warning to everyone on your e- mail list: If someone comes to your front door saying they are checking for ticks due to the warm weather and asks you to take your clothes off and dance around with your arms up, DO NOT DO IT! Thank you for all the good vibes today. OAS and I did walk together for a while before he decided to call it a day. Today was rough. It was humbling. Never got above the low 50s and when I started the run, it was 48 and raining. Pretty rough swells on the swim. Now I know what it feels like to be almost last and be close to not making the cutoffs. I felt better about my standing once I started catching people on the run.

Anyone ever have a timing chip fail, and not record you as a finisher? I did Grandma's marathon yesterday, and they don't have me starting or finishing the race. I emailed the race, and got a "form letter" reply apologizing, and saying I would be included in the results book mailed out in 6 months or whatever. Nap ends, all crews respond to "smoke", cloud floats away, dude says, "oh well, guess it was nothing, sorry." I don't know who Mrs. Ray likes better--Al, or Matt. With Al, it's everything...with Matt, it's all the school stuff.

The administrative side of medicine must be really nasty considering the side of medicine that Ray spends all his professional time in.

Boop, free MBA--gotta go for it!!!When I was considering it a couple of years back because I was bored, it was about $40,000. Couldn't see it and also decided I really didn't want the administrative side of medicine.
