I think, though, that it totally helps that this degree is not a 'career' degree for me, ya know? I'm going solely for the purpose of learning for my own curiousity - I won't have to worry about a GPA on my resume for all my finance related endeavors :-) (hopefully I'm old enough now that I've proven myself enough that GPA doesn't really carry as much weight as it once did :-)

but, yeah...the grade. I was thinking about it tonight and I DID get soooooooo much out of that class. I really did. I did have the 10 days in Guatemala during this semester and then decided to quit sem and then decided not to so had to make up a bunch of work. In making up the work, I didn't have time to write 'quality' papers, so I just wrote straight from my heart, screwing the 'form' and such. I got soooooo much more out of those papers than any paper I've written to date - it was like I was having coffee with the prof. It was fantastic. I have no idea what grades I got on them because I can't bring myself to look (all grades are online) so I'm just sitting with the fact that I now know ALL about Genesis through Ruth in the bible (I never knew the Israelites story before...I kid you not) AND I fell in love with the book of Deuteronomy - I was just blown away when I read it. So, if learning in that way cost me a grade or two, so be it. :-)

Tina - I'm sorry to hear about your grade. I know you worked really hard in that class. Kind of reminds me of a class I took in college - History of the Soviet Union. I loved that class. You could have asked me any info about the Russian Revolution and the Stalin era and I could have filled you in with all the details. I got a D+. I just couldn't write in the style the prof wanted. I got a ton out of the class, just not a good grade. Plus the prof was hot. Sometimes you have to look at what the class gave you with a measure other than the grade. Did you get closer to the spiritual goals you want to accomplish by being in the seminary? If so, you get an A in God's eyes. (By God's eyes, I mean in His opinion, not those stick and yarn things you made at camp.)

I trapped a mosquito in the microwave today at work. I know for a fact that it takes exactly 10 seconds on high to kill a mosquito. I watched it die. First he was flying around in there for ~6 seconds. Then 6-8 he was laying on his back kicking and at aproximately 10 seconds (give or take 10 nano seconds) he was dead. I strongly advice doing this to any and all mosquito's. 8)

I don't think putting an objective marking scale around a relationship is ever going to work. The most important measure is the value you place on your relationship with God. An A+ may make someone feel good, but does that proove their relationship with God is stronger than people with lesser marks? Seems like a bunch of mental ma$turbation to me!

So I went out riding in Fermi Lab, think wide open space, no shelter and wind gusts from 10-30mph. Took the tribike and the HED 3's because I have a little tri coming up and thought I'd get a little practice in case it's windy on race day. Absolutely flying until the 30mph crosswind hit. I stayed loose, didn't fall but I got an inadvertent practice emptying the bladder on the bike.

vimp - so I was watching VH1 the other day, and they showed the lead singer for that song. Used to look like a crossdresser, now looks like an Orange County housewife : feminine, lots of cosmetic surgery... Pretty passable, til he spoke. Kinda made me confused about my sexuality. E, you probably already read this in your book but it's good to read again. "I received the best advice for running I ever heard: "You're not going to win, so just relax. If it feels like work, you're running too hard." I just wish people would run two miles as if they were running 100 miles, because one thing that you will always see in ultra-races that you will never see in normal marathons are smiles. People are relaxed and enjoying the moment."

truthfully the only thing I dislike aboot running is how many miles are left. When I run I never feel bad about the mile I'm on or the miles already done. My mind fixates on what's remaining and stresses. I'll have to overcome that and reconfigure my outlook cause right now 100 is humanly impossible to my brain. My comfort level is at aboot 13 miles right now.

the math is simple for me, daunting, but simple. if yer gonna do it then do it big and make it worth it. Also, if your gonna "do it" really, then modify everything else to make it happen. With IM I place it like 8th down the list cause been there done that. IM training gets done pretty much when everything above it on the list gets done and there's time and motivation left over. The Leadville math is raise it to #1 on the list and everything else gets done when the Leadville training gets done and I have something left over. Once you're not afraid to move on from your job, sell yer house, move to a nice place, and have no bills, AND HAVE NO TV, or a need to drive or slave to the man then Leadville training starts to become plausible. BUT, still it's like a hunderd miles or sumptin'......freaks do that!
