They are quite 'industrial' looking and go well in the loft decor...but I digress)....anyway, the computers on the table, I'm crouched over it and sahara is on the couch (which isn't a "normal" couch either, but thats for another time)...sahara is on the couch-like thing and comes up and rests her chin on my back!!! If you get them go really really slow with ramping up the mileage otherwise they will hurt you. But once you build into long distance you will get faster guaranteed. I suggest keeping the regular running shoes with the newtons for the first month or so. Throw in one day a week only very short distance (2-3 miles) with the newtons. Gradually add more after about 3 months. If your a heal striker the muscles in your feet will be sore quickly. So be careful. This is how people get hurt with newtons. Weak feet just can't handle them. But. With that being said I went from running 10 minute pace for half to sub 9. 8)

I know big guys like PRO Chris McDonald have fared well with them but many of their original big name IM sponsored athletes had injuries. I know I wouldn't use that shoe on trails. I use a Asics Gel Kayano because it provides maximum rear and forefoot cushioning. I'd like to use a lighter shoe but it's not practical for me.

Just drained muscles but no real pain. Took the mtn bike for a mostly flat 2 hour ride and had good power still- sore start but the muscles were opening up over the last half. Woulda swam laps but hadda do a coupla hours in the fire brush truck until after the afternoon thunderheads passed. Not a bad weekend. Not spectacular as far as total time or distance but good solid work and I feel worked but good. Bodes well for a full week of similar. Keepin it rollin' on

I missed a turn a went crazy far into the back country. Instead of giving up I went up and over a mtn ridge and dropped back into the correct drainage to regain my correct route. Not sure if I can call that a "run" but it's the longest something so far this year. 3:09. Havin a diet coke out on the patio. No tv's in site. Frikken neighbors mang!
