ya know what occurred to me on my little hike today? for about 5 years or so now all I've been hearing in the real estate and financial service industries is how we are about to see the "greatest transfer of wealth in the history of man" regarding the retirment and passing on of the Baby Boomers. Then when nearly every person is bought heavily into that there is a nearly total collapse of those two markets and people lose a third to half of everything they own including their homes and 401k's. This tells me two things- 1.) the financial markets and real estate markets are really just large ponzi schemes that are not really markets anymore thanks to the rules and greed of everyone involved. 2.) They were right aboot the largest transfer of wealth but the transfer happened way back when the bubbles were building and it was the wall streeters, bankers, lawyers, companies and all the middle men and their fees that "transfered" the real wealth to their own bottom lines. Now, before all the Baby Boomers get a chance to cash out or transfer their "paper" wealth there had to be a market "recconning" that erases the "paper wealth" to real levels before it was found out to not really be there in the first place. Though my Grandparents have long since passed on, I am learning from their depression era values more and more each day! I will no longer trust anyone trying to sell me something. If I truly need something, I will buy it because it doesn't need to be "sold" to me. Everything else can just blow wind out my bung hole.....

Cornjob, dude, you're my idol. I can look for the book I used to do build the green room if you want and send it down. After you get it framed, I'd even come down to show you how to tile in crooked lines. True. You can also use the tile saw if you want it--it's a cheapy, but it still works ok. Is the plumbing already where you want it, or are you going to have to saw some concrete?

Okay. so dumb story but whatever. Today I got caught in the hallway during a discussion of how to get blind people through a round-a-boot intersection. These were senior engineers having a serious debate and of course I spouted out the answer... How do you get blind people through an intersection? Scare the dog. I didnt get any laughs... but I heard about it later. Engineers... no humor.

California is #6 on that list but they don't include local taxes such as property taxes and local sales tax, both of which would bump CA higher on the list if I'm not mistaken. And I love it when KP comments on politics..mostly on account of the fact that I agree with him! As someone who has lived in CA for most of my life, it's sad to me how far we've dropped in terms of friendliness to business, education, etc. I would move to Colorado in a heartbeat if I could do my job there....

Texas was a nation before it was a state. I think the governor is just talking, but if I were a Texan and took a hard look at my own state of California, it's tax and spend ways, it's entitlement programs, Prop 1A asking for 16 Billion dollars in tax increases this year and it's slide toward bankruptcy, I would be very concerned to follow in it's path. San Diego's population is less in 2009 than it was in 2008 -- and 2008 was less than 2007. This is the least friendly state for business and the highest taxed state of all the United States. I never thought I would say this but I could see me relocating.

It doesn't really get above 65C in Kona, so you're alright...

I like Hoopla. I would like to do Kona one day. But first, Vaughan will need to acclimatize (sp?) -- therefore, I think we should move there to start the process.

I got a kona slot once as an ameteur (I don't know how to spell that) and turned it down and once as a pro...turned it down. I don't think I'm a loser because of it, although I wonder what it would have been like, but all the hoopla surrounding it....that's just not me. Laying cement blocks in Guatemala...that's me :-)
