back in the old days before the internet, before DVDs, before VHS, and even before Beta, every summer there was a school for bankers for 4 weeks. film societies here made enough money showing "mainstream porn" films on campus to the bankers to support the showing of "real cinema", french newwave, neo realisism, and everything else with subtitles during the rest of the year. This all came to an end because to advancements in technology and women entering the banking industry in great numbers ending the summer camp of drinking and porn for banker boys.

It's kinda long, but worth the read!!! This woman WILL be 60 y/o when she graduates. I LOVE HER!!!! She explains to me what the b ig 3+ syllable religious words in our readings mean...cuz I ask her...a lot :-) "I will be 60 years old when I graduate and I want to begin my new career as a chaplain then. The number of degrees doesn't matter. I just have to be adaquately prepared. I've been thinking today one of the keys to old age (if I get to live unlike so many I have loved) is to keep LIVING until you die. I love that I don't have a retirement that I can sink into. I love that I have to work until the end. I've promised the Lord that I'll do work for the Kingdom as long as he wants to keep me here. And this class is so fabulous, I really feel like I'm being equipped. The Robinson and Schreiner articles were great even though I had to wrestle Schreiner for his liberal fear-mongering. Otherwise I totally agreed with him. I'm going to order a Watchman Nee book tonight so I can be reminded that Christians are one body. And Love wins."

My mom and I met a passionate women up in Elings park (in Santa Barbara) this morning who runs the dog rescue program in the county. She had three yellow labs up there with her that were running around chasing tossed rubber balls. She was open about desparately trying to find homes for all three. As we admired the dogs (aged four months to seven years) and discussed her efforts, she was clearly frustrated. Her point was that each of the yellow labs she receives on a regular basis are put down after five days because of the exploding population of pit bulls that are being turned in. The program does not discriminate by dog breed although it was clear she had her owns opinions.

In my world, PWD = Pinewood Derby. Our cub scout pack held our pinewood derby a couple of weeks ago. I have no idea what PWD means in rayman's world, but something tells me it's not pleasant. :o)

Jan was amazed that so large and powerful a dog could leap a 3 foot fence with ease. We played with him for about 40 minutes before declining the adoption. He's a good dog.

I think Dino may be too much dog for Jan. He's a great dog, not a mean bone in his body. At 8 months he's already 65lbs and he'll probably reach 100.

At Dunn Bros this morning, some dude, who made a point of saying he had an ex girlfriend, asked me what I was studying. So I told him. We chatted, whatever, dude seemed nice. Then he said something about the Fitzgerald Theatre as he lives near there (walking distance) and I said I had no idea where that was. He proceeded to say that he, too, was sorta one-dimensional. I was all like (to myself) one dimensional!?!? Because I don't know where one of the many theatres are in this town? Dude, number 1. you don't even know me and 2. UP YOURS!!! Nearly as unbelievable as the idiot Brown is the new report by the DHS (dept homeland security) that warns of returning war vets that might begin to form domestic terrorist units. It stresses no evidence has been gathered to suggest this is true but that veterans know how to use weapons and may become right wing extremist. How silly is it that DHS can speculate about vets as domestic terrorists yet refuse to use the term "terrorist" for those part of the jihad.
