She has become increasingly supportive of university values that seem to support a liberal drift toward redistribution of wealth -- as it has for decades. Early in her college experience she has been embarrassingly singled out in class as a conservative, all the while she is an extraordinarily compassionate human being. The shift in her current view is understandable; after all, it’s college and there are few communities more liberal. So dad asks how her friend "so and so" is doing as they approach graduation. Her answer is that she’s not doing so well. "She’s been partying for four years while I worked my ass off in class, held down a part time job and fought my way to a graduation with honors". Dad suggested she go to the administration at school and ask them to give her friend a larger share of her own good grades so that her friend would have a better transcript and a better chance at success in her post college experience. The daughter says "I worked my ass off for four years, have large loans and will not reward her lesser work ethic". Dad says, welcome to a new political perspective.

He came to our company for a town hall meeting today. Beforehand, he walked into our area(with his entourage) to see the production floor from our viewing windows. I'm thinking this is way cool. Then he turns, sticks out his hand, and this is me "Mr.....Vice....President....honor....um....ahhh...." or some kind of blather. He stopped me short of foaming at my mouth by saying "What's your name?". And dang that I knew it when I went to work this morning, but couldn't remember how to pronounce it when he asked me. Oh well, so I got caught up in celebrity worship, I admit it. But it was neat!

Boop of LA email: @: I think budget cuts have hit the Santa Monica Fire Dept. I was driving back from my workout at the beach this a.m. and got flagged down by a runner as I turned onto San Vicente from Ocean (since Phats knows the neighborhood!). It was super foggy and a guy had driven his car onto the median over a couple of stop signs at the corner. His airbags had deployed and he was pretty stunned. So I called 911 and gave them the info and then they transferred me to the fire dept. where I was put ON HOLD!! I was like uh...ok....about 3 min. later a guy comes on and starts asking me all kinds of questions about the guy, the car, etc. etc. etc. Finally a police officer showed up, then a parking person, then another cop, and they put flares out and blocked the road. Still no ambulance. I was there about 20 min. and still no ambulance. I finally left since he had several police officers with him but I felt bad! I hope it eventually got there. The guy didn't look too seriously hurt but he still looked like he needed medical attention. Crazy!

swoosh! of starlite email: @: Aero: how about a swim across June Lake and back, ride from JL backside of Mono on Hwy120, down into Benton, down to Bishop, through Round Valley up the old grade 395 and back to June Lake. The run - not 100% sure but i'd really like to see using the June Lake Tri course for the first 4 miles, then down to the Fern Lake/Yost trail up through the ski resort maybe do a pass and then back down to the lake. Staggered start, us slo-pokes start at 6a.m., finish by 8pm for dinner/drinks at the Tiger Bar. That's been my thought for the past coupla years, but we've never gotten around to it. There are maybe 10 locals that I've talked to who would be into it for sure. Shall I put you on my mailing list? :-))

They are saying maybe Geitner put it in there. Like a three ring circus.
