From Highland Valley I could see down the valley and see the riders from at least 3 miles away. Plus, the last half mile to me was steep so they had to slow. I got the entire parade. On Palomar, there are 21 switch backs and you would not be able to see anything approach. I got a couple of cool pics. It was a great location and very exciting.

Then the Sierra Fall Century (which was September 6, 2008!) changed also, and we are stuck with a weekend I don't want, and folks are upset. I can't change the dates for 2009 at this point. I already have permits, ads, calendar listings, etc. And there is no date to change to. Labor day is impossible. 19th is the Music Fest, 26th I can't do because my Mom is celebrating a major birthday and I am booked over a year in advance. Don't think I can change that date! Can't do it October 3, since that is the 508. Which I am planning to race in. October 10? Before Labor Day? See the problem? You can be sure that I will NOT schedule the EC on top of the SFC, of course I will not schedule it on top of the Millpond Music Festival, and if that means the last weekend in September, so be it. For one thing, his event crosses over into Mono County on Saturday - and if Mono County permitting and county sheriff, EMT, etc., are already standing by for the Fall Century (700+ riders), his event (200-300 riders) may not get the support necessary to be safely staged, hence, permit denied. pretty simple. :-) Maybe he didn't think about that, maybe he already looked into it and it's not a problem. I don't know. It never hurts to ask, I think.
