I love innovation in sport. Dick Fosbury and the Fosbury flop high jump (now everyone does it). Bob Seagram and his curved fiberglass pole (initially banned by the IOC, then later reinstated). Brian Oldfield, who in 1975, in the fledgling days of "professional" track and field, broke the shot put record by 3 FEET, by using the discus style spin technique (world record not recognized because me made 50 bucks). Or the underwater dolphin kick in backstroke, they used to swim nearly the entire length of the pool underwater (now limited to first set of flags). How about Scott DH bars, arguably the single most important innovation to the sport of triathlon. And lastly, not so much innovation as inspiration.... Bob Beaman in the '68 Mexico City Olympics long jump. An event where world records are set in inches, he broke the world record over 2 FEET! Recently, Usain Bolt's world record dashes were awesome to watch. Reminded me of FloJo in her heyday, when she'd have that extra gear the other women didn't have.

today I am not a fireman cause the radio is silent. Next week though we swith modes and start avalanche drills and rescue, sorta an off-season fireman, if you will, that gets to use his pole to probe for meat in the wet stuff

if a gal moved into my roofless palace I prolly wouldn't charge her fer her share of the HOA dues...at least not for awhile. But, I would make her mow her share of the lawn and shovel some snow to offest the loss of revenue...
