K, I have a real question- why is it that a female parts lovin dude can't talk/joke/sarcasticate/pontificate/post aboot man on man action just as any other topic out there without fomenting the need to label or categorize in others? I have great gay friends. I have great hetro friends. Who cares? I don't care. I am comfortable enough in my self to know what I like and also comfortable to post 99% crappola on the net without feeling like I'm bashing anyone's private choices or secretly revealing gayness. I'm also not tryin to change anyone's mind on the subject; feel how you want aboot it. Mostly, I hope nobody is made to feel bad because they think I am bashing or denegrating them. I really am not judging, just having some light fun with the english language and human circumstance. No bad will behind it. And, inversely, if ya think I'm really hittin on ya and yer a dude- no worries, I am a true appreciatir of the femal anatomy and have never actually looked down in the men's bathroom or in the gym shower. Don't believe 95% of what is written here on the page, humor seems to be the major purpose of the daily posts, and I would gladly change what I post if any of it truly upsets any of you. Same for politics, religion, etc. The tri stuff is generally true though..... Positive Day! and a Zen shower or two for all of you. :)

An email to PlantUltra might be in order. I would think a decent race directing company would be all about not ticking off the locals who might have some influence on whether or not their race gets permits next year.

roger of ncw email: @
Maybe you should express your discontent with the city/county government that approved the use of the stickers, and convince them that they should use their resources to clean them up? Or, if there was no approval, maybe you should inquire with them about whether the PlanetUltra should be fined in an amount at least large enough to finance the clean up of the stickers? If the problem is that there are ugly stickers on the road, then the solution is motivating someone to pick them up. Passive activities such as boycotts have very little effect on litter because litter has no social conscience. ;-)

Date: Wednesday October 29th, 2008 10:31 Comment 160630

I see. Yeah. That would tick me off, too. Day of race = route markers. Day after race = litter.

Al, these are "semi-permanent" stickers on the road. They're made specifically so the RD doesn't have to go back and pick up signage. They were used here, by PlanetUltra for their double-century back in June. PlanetUltra of course, is a company that is not local. So, they stick these things on the road, then leave town. Weeks later, the stickers were still on the road, fraying and blowing off into the desert. Reaaaally nice. I won't do their ride again for this reason.

Hey mate. It can be tough to figure out why you have low back pain and spasm. Some thoughts: each spinal vertebrae articulate anteriorly through intervertebral discs and posteriorly by paired joints. The posterior, thumbnail sized joints are called facets. Facets have a joint space, cartilage and a capsule. There are nerves (branches of the dorsal primary ramus) that innervate the facet joints. The joints play a major role is handling stress, movement and weight bearing in the low back. They help discs in resisting compression and do most of the weight bearing in rotation and much of bending. They are also prone to wear and tear from past trauma or accidents. Additionally, if the disc themselves are thinning, the facets will be exposed increased stress, be more prone to painful inflammation and the cycle of osteoarthritis can be progressive -- not typical in young folks unless there is a history of trauma. What to do? When irritated, muscular spasm can be mild or extreme. In acute cases you can use ice and heat during the flare-up; maybe over the counter NAISDs. Traction can be very benefical. Some patients benefit from electric stim, ultrasound, deep tissue massage, ART and--or chiropractic manipulations of the joints themselves. Each case seems to respond a little differently. That may be because we show up in different stages of duress or the expertise of the provider we choose varies. Whatever the case, there doesn't seem to be "one right way" to deal with facet syndrome. Lastly, you can have disc herniation and facet syndrome at the same time but disc usually sends some symtoms into the leg(s).

KP, it was from shoveling dirt into my ute for 6 hours. It felt fine when doing it, but seized up as I was sitting later on. I currently do not have pain when sitting, but walk crooked (to the right and front) and have what feel like spasms in my lower back near my saccrum that cause me to lose my legs. I'm thinking a bit of heat and strecth that sucker out?

That's called "Catch 22". Joseph Heller addressed this in 1961 through one of the greatest novels of the 20th century. Paraphrasing Doc Daneeka: if you think you are crazy, you are not because we are all think we are crazy at times and that means you are sane. But if you think you are perfectly sane, you are crazy!

Tina, I can tell you that when I was in Italy for two weeks in May (six months ago), I was reading "The Audacity of Hope", BO's second book after "Dreams of My Father". Good book. Italians, Brits, the French; the majority of them (small sample) spoke up in support of Obama after glancing at the cover. Naturally, they wanted to know how I was going to vote. I told them "I haven't decided yet" because I hadn't. I told them I was trying to learn more about him. That didn't go over nearly as well as the sight of me carrying the book around. Hint: when in western europe, carry an Obama book if you want to meet friendly people. Kind of like having a puppy at the park in America!

My pea sized brain will be put to the test tonight. On Nova (PBS): An examination of fractal geometry. Ok, in college I took the dummy calc class, but we learned about differential equations and fractals. I can't wait to see the show tonight to see what I should have learned, and to reinforce how dumb I really am!

I don't know how I let this happen, but I am OUT OF WINE! *ack!* Fortunately, I do have the Coronas for backup...sans lime, unfortunately.

I'm awake Roger....was just checking e-mail. It's all US politics all the time over here across the pond. I even saw what I thin, was Al Jazeera going on and on about the election. I couldn't understand a word they said except that I would randomly hear "obama" and "McCain".

I'm going to stock up on 100 cases of Ensure before Nov 5th. Maybe buy some extra ammunition, too.
