The $20 car...I went surfing at La Selva beach with a firend. As I was leaving I noticed a guitar in a garbage can in the parking lot. Saw the guys who left it and asked them what was the deal? They were from New Jersey, on the road and had completely run out of money. They were getting ready to abandon thier monster rusted out 1965 Station Wagon, possesions and start hitch hiking. I asked them if it ran, they said sure. I offered them $10 to buy it, turned out I only had a $20. They gave me a bill of sale and I drove them to the freeway. Put about 15,000 miles on that car and only replaced a starter motor. Drove I-5 a number of times between Ashland and the Bay Area in 73/74. Loaned it to a friend that spring and he accidently drove it into a snowbank. He was pretty upset. I just him "so what, I'm out $20 dollars" :-)

Phatty, Scott visited me once or twice at work. I was taking 27-29 units a semester in professional school from 7:00am to 5:00pm five days a week and I worked 6:00pm to 10:00pm seven days a week. I really had no bonus hours to do anything but study, work and sleep about 5-6hrs a night for four years. Not much partying going on in the late 70s. I've had harder jobs but I don't think I ever have had a tougher schedule than that one until I got serious about going faster at IM '99. I know you and roger and tina know a thing or two about tight schedules!

Gregg Allman wrote "Melissa" in 1967. About a year later he was the last one to join The Allman Brothers Band. He said, after his brother's accident, late at night his brother would ask him to get his guitar and play the song about the girl. They liked it enough that later, they would add it to the "Peach".

I inferred from that bumper sticker that he was a hard-working blue-collar type who was down on his luck, but nevertheless realized that the key to his recovery was a healthy economy, driven by a reduction in the capital gains tax to stimulate business. If this doesn't get figured out and I need to pay it again, I'm marking it up as a charitable donation :)

I'm picking up an extra shift today, 4th day in a row! At least I don't have to do my laundry, which is badly needed right now. :-)

It doesn't matter what kind of undies true Budhists wear because you can't see them for the flesh that overlaps them. Kinda like the fat guys on the beach wearing Speedos.
