Alynn of Oh email: @: So, 'member a week or so ago we were talking about local congressional reps? And I said mine was the target of an SNL parody? (It was that whole "Marines don't cut and run" incident a few years ago.) I've thought the chick was stupid for years - since she was a local township rep. Well, my prediction has come to pass... She is a runner and insists on running on the busiest roads in the area - twisting and turning and hilly with lots of trees where people drive way too fast. Like, I wouldn't run on these roads on a bet. She finally got hit (hit and run) last week and broke 2 vertebrae and a few ribs. While I don't wish that on anyone, but I'm not exactly surprised. Just cuz it's LEGAL to run on that road doesn't mean it's SMART. Dumbass.

vimp of nz email: @: Hof, in response to your job situation request in NZ - NZ hasn't been impacted too much by the recent fallout. Our banks are quite conservative in the products they offer customers and have only been challenged by the increased cost in obtaining overseas capital. Oil is falling but that is being offset by our weakening US exchange rate, however that has a resoanbly positive effect on the economy given we are primarily an export country. The housing market continues to fall, but that's only a problem at this point in time for people without much upfront capital (a lot of banks are asking for 15-20% deposit now). So all up, move down here - with the larger house prices in the States, the falling exachange rate and predicitions for continuing reductions in interest rates, you'll be able to get yourself a pretty sweet shack. But most importanty, the wahines will love yer accent and be all like "oh Markey you're so fly" and stuff like that!!

As I'm coming back up San Vicente, I hit a red light and who do I see on the other side of the street but PHATS!!!!! We chatted for awhile and as I start back up the hill, these 2 SHIRTLESS guys cruise by. I'm like, well, this is some good incentive to stay with them! :-) So I'm running along about 10 yards behind them and then one of them starts to slow so I catch up & start chatting. Turns out they are both running NYC. One guy is an ultra runner so he's just cruising. The other guy turns out to be Ryan Reynolds, the actor. He's raising money for the Michael J Fox foundation and it's his first marathon. I ran with them for about 3 miles until we got to the end of my run and they only had about 1/4 mile left. They thanked me for making their run so much better. ;-) Phats should look for them in NYC! Super nice guys!
